Communication Trainee - Academy of Business in Society


Communication Trainee Profile:

ABIS is a rapidly growing not-for-profit membership organisation. Our global members are major corporates and leading business schools influencing research, education, thinking and business practice on some of the most critical issues confronting economies and societies today. As in any small team, the required duties will depend on current workloads and priorities. However, we expect the trainee to work within the Communications Teamand support colleagues and the overall organisation in delivering a demanding yet exciting programme of activities. The trainee’skey tasks would include the following:
  • Update the organisational website www.abis-global.org and monitor usage of the website using Google analytics;
  • Community management (drafting messages, monitoring outreach) of core social media accounts on Twitter and Linkedin;
  • Supporting the Communication Manager on devising communication plans and marketing strategies for ABIS programs and events;
  • Maintain regular communication with the ABIS membership and beyondby drafting newsletters, e-mail and other forms of outreach;
  • Proactively identifying opportunities for promoting ABIS activities and the ABIS brand;
  • Assistcolleagues in outreach and dissemination activities for projects and key events like the ABIS Annual Colloquium.

We seek someone who demonstrates:

  • Excellent drafting skills in English;
  • Strong team playing skills;
  • Flexibility to adjust under pressure of limited time or resources;
  • Initiative and drive to excel;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Quick learning.

Essential skills:

  • Post-graduate degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration or related areas;
  • Native-level fluency in English with excellent drafting skills;
  • Stays updated on key trending topics around business, management and world news;
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint andExcel;
  • Experience of drafting newsletters or writing for websites;
  • Experience of using social media to build community engagement;
  • Knowledge of image editing software such as Photoshop or Gimp.

Desirable skills:

  • Knowledge of video editing;
  • Experience of digital marketing;
  • Some knowledge of Italian or French.
